Hi irvinites! I’m Melinda Liu.

I’m a small business owner with a law practice, a single mom who raised three adult children through IUSD schools, and the primary caregiver to my elderly parents. I’ve been an active community leader in Irvine for two decades and now I want to be your voice to keep Irvine accessible and sustainable for our families and the future generations!

Nearly 20 years ago when my children’s Montessori in the El Toro Marine Base lost their lease, I worked with other parents to keep the school open while we looked for alternative childcare. This was my first experience in community activism fighting for working families in Irvine. Since then, my neighbors and I have helped each other and built a community to raise our families!

As a single mom, I raised three adult children through IUSD schools and had been an integral part of their schools, the Irvine Swim League team, SEYO basketball, Assisteens of Irvine, Girls Scouts, SoCal Elite and OC Rhythm basketball club. In addition, I managed the Northwood Girls Basketball program and served on the Athletic Boosters Board and PTSA Committees as well as the PTO President at Irvine Chinese School. Together, my neighbors and I built a village to raise our children in Irvine.

I learned to be a fierce, persistent advocate for my community and ensure resources are accessible as a teenage immigrant responsible for bridging the language barrier for my family.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked for the Small Business Administration (SBA) and helped thousands of business owners meet complex regulations. Currently, I serve on the City of Irvine Finance Commission and while running my own solo estate planning law practice. My experience in business litigation and on the Irvine Finance Commission helps me become familiar with Irvine’s business and fiscal policies to provide common sense stewardship for taxpayer money.

I understand our unique needs from living my life with my multigenerational family in District 1 in the last 20 years! Irvine is our home and I’ll make it my priority to make Irvine a community where we maintain our quality of life and our children can start their own families!

I’M MELINDA LIU, AND I’M HERE TO WORK FOR YOU!
